The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool, the Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush.
We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia's history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.
About the Role
Join our team as a Casual Retail Customer Service Officer and become part of an iconic organisation loved by both the local and international community. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to engage with visitors from around the world while delivering exceptional customer service in a unique retail environment.
We're looking for someone who is passionate about heritage and culture, enjoys connecting with people, and takes pride in creating memorable experiences for every customer.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Deliver friendly, high- quality customer service in a dynamic retail environment.
* Share your product knowledge to assist visitors and promote the unique products and services offered by Sovereign Hill Museums Association.
* Support customers with enquiries in a professional and efficient manner, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
* Assist with day- to- day retail operations, including restocking, merchandising and stocktaking.
* Work collaboratively with your team and provide support to supervisors and managers when needed.
* Follow organisational procedures and contribute to a safe, positive workplace by adhering to health and safety guidelines.
Required Qualifications
* Previous experience in a retail environment or in a customer service role is preferred
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to make decisions independently.
* Strong problem-solving capacity and ability to handle challenging customer interactions.
* A flexible approach to work (weekends, public holidays) as per retail business requirements.
* Proficiency in using retail software and EFTPOS systems is desirable.
* A keen interest in or knowledge about heritage and culture is a plus.
