Your new role
As the Senior Estimator, you will prepare accurate and detailed quotes, estimates and tenders for a wide range of projects including structural steel and piping fabrication, blasting and painting, concrete remediation, and resource/mining construction packages. You will interpret engineering drawings, assess material and labour requirements, liaise with suppliers and subcontractors, and support tender submissions and budgeting processes. This permanent, locally based position at the Mackay Paget workshop requires a high degree of accuracy, technical insight, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
What you'll need to succeed
* Proven experience as an Estimator within the fabrication or mining industry
* Background in resource, mining, or industrial project environments
* Ability to read and interpret structural engineering drawings
* Strong attention to detail with accurate material take-offs
* Solid understanding of fabrication processes and labour allocation
* Commercial awareness to support competitive tendering
* Proficiency in estimating software; AutoCAD experience desirable
* Strong Microsoft Office skills
* Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities
* Ability to work independently and within a results-driven team
* Must be locally based in Mackay
