Communications Centre Team
Ambulance Tasmania's Communications Centre is a critical component of the Department of Health, supporting the delivery of timely, safe and effective emergency and non‐emergency patient transport services across the state. The centre coordinates emergency call receipt, dispatch and radio communications for Ambulance Tasmania and works closely with clinical operations, emergency services, hospitals, government agencies and service providers to ensure seamless response and transport services.
Position: Director – Communications Centre
The Director – Communications Centre is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the Communications Centre and its radio communications infrastructure, ensuring effective delivery of emergency and non‐emergency transport communications while driving system improvements, operational resilience and service excellence across Tasmania.
Key Duties
* Lead and manage the day‐to‐day operations of the Communications Centre, including emergency and non‐emergency transport call receipt and dispatch services.
* Provide strategic advice and leadership to implement contemporary systems, such as the GRN radio system, and drive continuous improvement across communications and dispatch functions.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, emergency services, government agencies and service providers to ensure coordinated and effective service delivery.
Required Qualifications and Experience
* Demonstrated senior leadership and change‐management skills, including the ability to implement strategic direction, lead system improvements and manage complex operational environments.
* High‐level communication, negotiation and relationship‐building skills, with the capacity to work collaboratively across emergency services, government agencies and service providers.
* Relevant qualifications and experience in ambulance operations and communications, including registration with the Paramedicine Board of Australia and eligibility to meet all essential registration and licensing requirements.
* Current driver's licence.
* Desirable: management qualifications or substantial managerial experience at a senior manager or executive level; significant experience in ambulance operations focusing on the emergency services communication function.
Appointment Details
Fixed‐term, full‐time, day‐worker position. Working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for approximately 36 months. Hours are subject to negotiation.
Salary and Allowances
* Annual salary of $178,112 plus a 12% superannuation contribution.
* Salary packaging options include living expenses up to $9,010 and meal entertainment of $2,650 per FBT year.
* Professional Development Allowance up to $1,000 per annum.
* Remote and Rural allowance: 8% of base salary for remote sites Miena, Queenstown, Strahan or Zeehan; 4% for other remote sites.
