About The Role
The Patient Services Assistant, Ancillary Assistant is responsible for ensuring a high standard of patient transport, restocking, and courier services, as well as maintaining cleanliness and hygiene throughout all areas of University Hospital Geelong. The Ancillary Assistant is an integral member of the hospital team, assisting and supporting the nursing and clinical staff in various functions, including cleaning and housekeeping, transport and courier services, and Patient Support. These duties are performed with patient welfare as the highest priority, ensuring safe practice in technique and infection control, respect, and courtesy to staff, patients, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high standards of cleaning, housekeeping, and linen management across wards and general hospital areas.
* Assist with patient transport, equipment movement, and courier services, including specimens and patient records.
* Support ward operations by restocking consumables, filling water jugs, and assisting nursing staff with patient care tasks.
* Participate in emergency response activities, including Code Grey, Code Black, and other hospital emergency procedures.
What We're Looking For
* Certificate III in Health Services Assistance and Food Handlers Certificate.
* Service-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently or in a team.
* Physically fit with ability to lift, move heavy items, and walk long distances during shifts.
* Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and commitment to safe work practices.
