Job Description
* Develop a strategic communications plan aligned with key project milestones and implement it effectively.
* Lead community engagement activities and public consultations to build trust and maintain transparency in the community.
* Craft compelling content across multiple platforms, including media releases, newsletters, social media, and briefing notes, to engage the target audience.
* Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate updates, maintaining open communication channels throughout the project.
* Provide crisis communication support and manage sensitive or high-risk issues as they arise, ensuring a prompt response to minimize potential damage.
* Prepare speeches, presentations, and briefing packs for senior leadership and government representatives, presenting information in a clear and concise manner.
* Evaluate communication strategies and report on engagement outcomes, assessing the effectiveness of implemented plans and identifying areas for improvement.
* Mentor and support junior communications team members to foster a high-performing culture, promoting professional growth and development within the team.
The Successful Applicant
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in communications and engagement, preferably within infrastructure, construction, or government environments, where you can apply your skills and knowledge effectively.
* IAP2 Certification is highly regarded, although willingness to obtain certification is also considered.
* A degree in communications, PR, journalism, or marketing is highly valued, demonstrating a strong foundation in communications principles and practices.
* Demonstrated success in delivering communication strategies for complex projects, showcasing your ability to develop and implement effective plans under pressure.
* Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills are essential, allowing you to craft compelling content and present information confidently.
* Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management capabilities are necessary to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, ensuring successful collaboration and communication throughout the project.
* An understanding of infrastructure sustainability frameworks (e.g. ISC) is desirable, indicating your awareness of industry best practices and standards.
* A current Class C Driver's Licence is preferred due to occasional travel to site offices, which may be required for meetings or inspections.
