**Education Officer**
**Mitchell Librarian and Engagement, Learning Services**
- Temporary, part-time role, 2 days per week for up to 6 months - with the possibility of extension and /or ongoing employment

The State Library of New South Wales is one of Australia's oldest and most important public institutions. Collecting actively since 1826, the Library preserves and presents the social, cultural and scientific history of our State and our Nation for the benefit of all. Its rich collections, both physical and digital, alongside partnerships with the public library network across NSW and other vibrant collaborations enable Australians to examine their past and imagine their future. In short, the Library occupies a unique position at the very heart of our civil society.

The Mitchell Librarian and Engagement Division supports the State Library's engagement with the people of NSW and beyond. The Division is led by the Mitchell Librarian who also has a special responsibility for managing the highly significant collection of rare books, images, manuscripts and other material organised around the library of David Scott Mitchell which was given to the State in the early twentieth century. The Division is responsible for the creative and intellectual development of exhibitions, promotion and analysis of the Mitchell Library Collection, support for scholarship, learning and Indigenous engagement, media and communications, public programs, along with design and publications. The Mitchell Library is a uniquely important research collection which documents the development of Australia and its region from the earliest times to the present today. The Mitchell Librarian provides advice to the State Librarian on all these and related matters.

This role participates in the development, delivery and evaluation of the State Library's client education and training activities particularly those designed for K-12 students, teachers, children and families, students of the library and information profession and lifelong learners onsite, online and on tour.

**About the Role**

We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Education Officer to:

- Deliver learning programs to targeted groups onsite, online and on tour
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of creative and innovative education and training programs
- Ensure the delivery of effective programs (onsite, offsite, and online) to help enhance client use and understanding of the Library collections and resources, for students and teachers, K-12, youth, families, lifelong learners, and students of the library profession
- Liaise on the Library's behalf with a range of clients, stakeholders, sponsors and partners to ensure that learning programs are aligned with Library client needs

**About you**:
To be successful in this role, you will have the following knowledge and experience:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in primary, secondary or K-12 school education together with teaching experience in a school at primary or secondary level or experience as an educator in a cultural organisation.
- A satisfactory Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- Current Class C NSW Drivers Licence.
- Currently holds a First Aid Certificate or is willing to obtain one if needed for operational requirements.

**How to apply**:

**Question 1**: The primary purpose of this role is to develop and deliver engaging learning programs to K-10 students and family audiences both on site at the State Library and also in an online environment. This requires a genuine interest and enthusiasm for working with these audiences. Provide an example of when you have developed and delivered a successful program for one of these audience groups. Please outline your processes and outcomes.

**Question 2**: This role requires strong skills and confidence in delivering virtual excursions to schools. Please outline your experience in developing and/or delivering in an online environment.

Subject to current health orders, assessments may be administered online. If you require any adjustments, you may request these should you be shortlisted.
