Commercial Analyst Role Overview

About the Job:

The role of a Commercial Analyst is to support business decision-making by providing insightful analysis and recommendations to optimize profitability and growth.

Main Responsibilities:

* Validate new product commercial viability by reviewing key areas such as target pricing, costs, margin expectations, and forecasts.
* Review and analyze the progress of new and existing products, identifying performance against targets, market trends, and return on investment.
* Identify slow-moving items and propose corrective actions, including influencing the phase-out of obsolete lines and mitigating risk against future stock issues.
* Harvest market data with the external sales team to inform the launch of new products and review existing product performance.
* Develop and maintain effective methods for storing and analyzing relevant market information.
* Maintain and manage customer price files within the system, including promotions and pricing adjustments.
* Support the Commercial Department and offer cover for all areas when needed, working collaboratively with various stakeholders and departments.
* Support projects within the organization to align with overall business strategy.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

* Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills, enabling the compilation, interpretation, and analysis of key trends and data sets to support strategic business decisions.
* Effective project management skills to ensure analytical initiatives align with business goals, are delivered on time, and drive measurable impact.
* Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in analysis and reporting.
* A positive, open, and objective attitude towards others.
* Consistency and reliability in personal or professional efforts.
* Self-management, prioritizing and completing tasks to deliver desired outcomes within allotted timeframes.
* Effective communication, using a broad range of communication styles and choosing appropriate ways to communicate to different audiences in diverse situations.
* Problem-solving skills, identifying opportunities to improve current processes and developing solutions or efficiencies.
* Proficiency or familiarity with data analysis tools, such as Power BI (or similar).
