We have NATA accredited (ISO/IEC 17025) coal laboratories servicing all major coal ports in Australia and have significant involvement with the superintending of coal exported overseas, quality control at mine sites / power plants and borecore evaluation.Job DescriptionWe’re looking for a Coal Technician to join us in a permanent, full-time role in Paget, QLD. You’ll be responsible for preparing and analysing coal samples, helping ensure accurate, high-quality results that meet international standards.Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:Provide and maintain high quality, accurate and timely work.Perform duties of all routine shipping and exploration project sampling, preparation and analysis.Ensure everyone is aware of the safety environment.Assisting with preventative maintenance and calibration of preparation equipment.Prioritisation of urgent samples and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Operation of analytical, manual analytical and preparation equipment.Compliance with analytical methods, procedures and SGS Quality Systems.Contributing to a safe workplace by conducting risk assessments, addressing hazards, and implementing improvements.Maintain a high standard of general housekeeping.QualificationsWe are seeking candidates who come from a fast-paced background. The successful candidate will possess the following:Coal sampling, preparation and testing experience preferred, but not essential.Good computer skills, Excel proficiency beneficial and previous experience with data management programs (highly regarded).Previous experience in general mineral laboratory environment preferred, but not essential.Ability to work on rotating shifts including day/night/afternoon and weekends.Ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet tight deadlinesAdditional InformationWHY WORK FOR SGS?Working at SGS means joining an innovative, Global company.
