Coast Port Beach is currently seeking an experienced, focused, and passionate Sous Chef to join our expanding team. Situated directly on the sands of Port Beach, North Fremantle, we are a modern Australian venue that offers a range of dining experiences, from casual beachside meals to high-end weddings and special events.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, running, and overseeing a team with consistent and high-level execution. This role involves close collaboration with the Head Chef and other Sous Chefs in day-to-day operations to ensure the highest standards of food preparation and presentation. Additionally, the Sous Chef will prepare and cook a diverse array of dishes for à la carte, functions, and special event menus, while also mentoring and training junior kitchen staff to foster a positive and collaborative team environment. Contributions to menu development, with ideas that keep our food exciting, current, and fresh, are also expected, along with strict adherence to health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
We are seeking individuals with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Chef de Partie or above in a high-quality restaurant or hotel environment, along with formal culinary qualifications such as a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery. Outstanding culinary skills, a strong understanding of food preparation techniques, flavour profiles, and plating are essential. Candidates should also possess excellent time management, problem-solving, and multi-tasking abilities, a passion for using fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients, and strong communication and teamwork skills with a positive attitude. * We're looking for a Senior Sous Chef with ambition, drive, and the confidence to lead. This is your opportunity to work in a large, fast-paced kitchen alongside an experienced Head Chef, while developing the skills to run a kitchen of your own.
* You'll be hands-on with every aspect of kitchen operations—menu execution, team leadership, and service delivery. Lead and mentor a large team of chefs and kitchen staff.
* Support with ordering, stock control, rostering and compliance
Requirements
* Good communication and a positive attitude
* Excellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and processes
* Confidently step up and manage one of the kitchens in the absence of the head chef
* Be able to move fast, think quickly and execute with precision
* Cert III minimum commercial cookery, and a full working visa/residency is essential
