Expert Project Leader Opportunity
Lismore City Council seeks a seasoned project management professional to lead its Flood Restoration Portfolio (FRP) division. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering large-scale infrastructure projects, overseeing teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering and project management, with at least 10 years of experience in similar roles. They will also possess excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, as well as the ability to build trusted relationships across government, industry, and community.

Responsibilities include:
* Leading and managing multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically challenging projects from inception to completion.
* Providing advisory support and strategic input to ensure successful project outcomes.
* Engaging and managing internal and external stakeholders to capture and deliver project requirements.
* Establishing close working relationships with contractors to foster a culture of cooperation in delivering projects on time and within budget.
* Ensuring critical milestones are met in programs or reporting program slippages with recommended corrective actions to ensure successful project or contract outcomes.
* Coordinating design, tendering for, and managing contractors, providing technical direction to ensure projects are delivered within predetermined limits of time, cost, and quality.
* Collaborating and managing client and project needs using practical interpersonal and communication skills.
* Preparing contractor packages.
* Demonstrating a strong track record of coordinating all aspects of projects to achieve project success, including time, cost, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction.
* Managing budgets, forecasting, utilization, and project financial performance, ensuring adherence to internal processes, governance, and quality systems.
* Monitoring works to ensure compliance with regulatory, WHS, security, and environmental requirements.
* Driving continuous improvement and innovation in project delivery.
* Reporting on project progress, budget, risk, and program, ensuring robust close-out procedures.
* Staying engaged with industry developments and maintaining strong networks.
Requirements and Qualifications
* Degree qualifications in Civil Engineering and Project Management.
* At least 10 years of experience in project management, ideally on large-scale ground engineering projects.
* Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage, motivate, and assess contractors, consultants, and project teams.
* Committed to safety, continuous improvement, and outstanding service delivery.
* Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams and provide high-level technical and strategic advice.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across government, industry, and community.
* Excellent knowledge of legislation, regulations, design standards, and codes of practice relevant to infrastructure construction and management.
* In-depth knowledge of construction, design, procurement, and maintenance practices, and relevant legislation and standards.
