About the role

The Team Member role is a dynamic role where you will be supporting Young People in out-of-home care within our therapeutic, acreage/rural-based properties, technology-reduced model of care. The Team Member role is responsible for engaging and supporting Young People with challenging, maladaptive behaviours to achieve social, educational, cultural, and emotional goals. As a Team Member, you will also be responsible for the day-to-day care of our Young People.
Our goal is to teach Young People new coping strategies, new pro-social behaviours to transition them to a forever home.

About you
You would need to have a high level of resilience, patience, compassion, empathy and passion to enhance the lives of our Young People, be consistently engaged and plan with a purpose to build on the capacity of our Young People in all aspects; emotionally, physically, life skills, socially and culturally. Your initiative and pro-active approach will be highly valued in your day-to-day work.
As a Team Member you would work within a tight-knit team to create a positive and safe home environment and will need to have the ability to build a genuine connection with our Young People, committed to supporting our Young People engage safely in the community in activities and building social networks, you will support trauma pain-based behaviours, perform daily tasks and complete all mandatory reporting. You would share the same focus-driven outcomes by following the organisation's policies and procedures.
**Daily tasks may consist of**:
- Hands-on support in teaching life skills to our Young People; cooking, cleaning, budgeting, homework, personal care, booking and attending appointments, sport, schooling
- Develop support plans including positive behaviour plans and progress reports
- Assess and promote our Young People's development
- Liaise and report to Stakeholders to provide information, assist with plans and ensure outcomes
- Develop activity plans for the Young Person and support community engagement
- Safely support behaviours using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
**Skills and Experiences**:
Essential requirements
- Current Australian Drivers Licence (must be open or P2)
- Be able to prioritise and work under pressure to specific timeframes and targets
- Availability for shift work during the week and weekends including sleepovers as rostered
- Have the ability and flexibility to meet the needs of the organisation
- Obtained minimum Cert IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or equivalent, or working towards
- Approved Licensed Care Service (LSC) check through the department, or willingness to obtain
- Current Blue Card, or willingness to obtain
- Current First-Aid and CPR certificates, or willingness to obtain
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills including documentation, organisational and reporting
- High-level computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Provide two recent professional references
Desirable attributes
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice
- Previous Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training
- Completed Hope & Healing modules
- Experience working directly with children and their families in a support capacity
- Current Licenced Care Service (LCS) check through The Department
- Flexible, adaptive, and open to learning
