Key Responsibilities:

* Provide expert advice on complex areas of policy and work independently to deliver quality outcomes.
* Prepare draft reports, briefing papers, speeches, and discussion papers for review by Executive level employees.
* Research, interpret, and apply legislation, including maintaining knowledge of relevant laws and international conventions.
* Monitor changes in the broader work environment that may impact on work objectives.
* Supervise team members performing related roles.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and possess a high degree of autonomy and independence.

About the Role

This role is part of the Oil and Gas Division, which works on a wide variety of onshore and offshore resources issues. The Division prides itself on being an inclusive and positive place to work, with values including clear and open communication, staff development, inclusivity, flexibility, and support for staff wellbeing.

The Gas Branch advises Government on gas supply policy, while the Offshore Strategy Branch provides policy and advice to support the safe and responsible regulation of Australia's offshore oil and gas resources.


What You Will Do

As a Senior Policy/Program Officer (APS Level 6), you will:

* Contribute to the delivery of key government priorities and play a key role in shaping future decisions about the energy transition.
* Develop and sharpen your policy skills undertaking high-profile work, including networking across States and Territories, engaging in policy processes, researching and analyzing data, and working directly on Cabinet processes and legislative development.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must be an Australian Citizen and hold a Baseline security clearance.

This is an APS Level 6 role, requiring a high degree of autonomy and independence, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
