About the Organisation
Broome International Airport (BIA) is a privately-owned regional airport and a hub for the North West of Western Australia. Considered the gateway to the Kimberley region, the airport welcomes approximately 450,000 tourism and commercial travellers every year across scheduled jet, turboprop and helicopter services.
BIA partners with Qantas, QantasLink, Virgin Australia, Airnorth and Nexus Airlines to provide flights to Perth, Karratha, Port Hedland, Darwin, Kununurra, as well as the East Coast capital cities of Sydney and Melbourne.
In 2024, BIA was named National Regional Airport of the Year.
About the position
BIA is excited to share an excellent career opportunity for an experienced General Manager - Commercial to join their high performing and friendly team.
This role will work autonomously to manage day-to-day commercial agreements on behalf on the BIA Group, as well as identifying and negotiating new business development opportunities. The role is responsible for investigating and implementing domestic and international aviation route development opportunities. Additional key responsibilities will encompass procurement, accurate analytical data keeping, and day to day management and supervision of the airport's retail operations including airport lounges.
About the person we seek
As the ideal candidate, you will have strong commercial business acumen and demonstrated success in securing commercial agreements for profitable growth across a diverse asset portfolio.
You will be a proactive thinker with strong interpersonal and leadership skills, along with the ability to establish and manage stakeholder relationships. You will also have demonstrated experience in successfully leading small teams.
As the successful applicant, you will have tertiary qualifications in either Economics, Business, Commerce, or equivalent, along with a minimum 5 years' experience in a commercial environment. You will have a current C class Drivers' Licence and able to successfully obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
Knowledge of the aviation sector, specifically in the areas of airline operations, major infrastructure assets or an understanding of economic and financial trends in this industry will be highly regarded.
