**Job Description**:
The Laboratory Manager has the overall responsibility for the operation of the Laboratory. Accountability includes the effectiveness and efficiencies of the laboratory and overall quality. **This position is in our Perth Laboratory, relocation to Perth will be required.**
**Responsibilities will include, however are not limited to**:
- Management of the laboratory to meet budget targets by ensuring operational costs are understood and controlled
- Delivery of client results by expected due dates in accordance with National KPI's
- Planning and organising production schedules including work/task allocation.
- Ensure quality is kept to the highest standard and the quality system is maintained to ISO17025 at all times
- Manage the day to day production of the laboratory by working with section team leaders to ensure turnaround times are met
- Implement new operational improvements to improve laboratory performance including new services to close operational gaps in service
- In conjunction with technical staff and Quality Manager, assist with resources to update, validate and improve methods on a regular basis
- Develop cross training plans throughout the laboratory to create a multi skilled flexible workforce aligned to individual job enrichment and development plans
- Act as project sponsor and champion for process improvement initiatives and digital innovation
**Qualifications**:
- Experience in a commercial laboratory with production scheduling experience
- Degree in Science or equivalent tertiary education or experience
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies (Highly Desirable)
- High level of technical knowledge of Environmental Testing including laboratory instrumentation
- Knowledge of Australian Environmental guidelines
- Good understanding of IT and preferably LIMS system
- Strong communication and the ability to Collaborate Effectively
- Experience in building High Performance Teams
