ABOUT THE ROLE

Do you have a background in weed management, environmental education, or regulatory compliance? We have an opportunity within our local open space team to educate, engage, and support the community in managing invasive and noxious weeds across the municipality. As a natural communicator and collaborator, you will work with landholders and stakeholders to promote best-practice weed management and ensure a practical, customer-focused approach to compliance and education.
Key responsibilities include:
* Plan, design, and deliver community weed education, including weed identification, management principles, and the importance of weed control.
* Develop and coordinate a weed education and communications work plan, including targeted outreach and broader community education.
* Deliver outreach services to landowners and land managers in areas of strategic importance.
* Support and coordinate weed education communications, including website content, social media, promotional materials, and media releases.
* Assist landowners and land managers to develop and implement effective weed management plans and practices.
* Identify, procure, and provide materials to support weed management activities.
* Respond to customer enquiries and prepare weed education materials, reports, publications, and correspondence for Council and the community
ABOUT YOU
To be successful for this role you'll bring:
* Degree qualified in environmental science, education, biodiversity, community engagement, communications or related field, or lesser formal qualifications or substantial relevant experience.
* Experience in the development and delivery of engagement, education and communication programs, preferably associated with weed management, biodiversity or natural resource management.
* Victorian Drivers Licence.
