The Role
WA College of Agriculture – Denmark is seeking a passionate and skilled Technical Officer Agricultural Instruction to join our dynamic team, with a specialist focus on tractor operations, agricultural machinery, and fodder production. This is a unique opportunity to shape the next generation of agricultural professionals in one of Western Australia's leading agricultural colleges.
You will play a pivotal role in delivering hands-on training and education to secondary students in the operation, maintenance, and safe use of agricultural machinery. Your expertise will support the College's pasture production program, ensuring students gain real-world experience in modern farming practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver practical and theoretical instruction in tractor operation, machinery use, and pasture management.
* Train and supervise students in field-based activities including seeding, spraying, fertilising, and silage and hay making.
* Maintain and manage a fleet of agricultural machinery and equipment.
* Collaborate with farm management and staff.
* Promote best-practice safety standards and machinery maintenance protocols.
* Support seasonal pasture production cycles and contribute to farm planning.
* Be willing to offer support to other farm enterprises as the need arises.
Applicants will ideally have
* Proven experience in operating and maintaining agricultural machinery, especially tractors and implements.
* Strong knowledge of pasture production systems and farm operations.
* Excellent communication and mentoring skills, with a passion for youth development.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
* Relevant qualifications in agriculture, machinery operation, or training & assessment (or willingness to obtain).

The highest rate an applicant can start at as a L1 is Level 1.4 (as negotiated with the principal).
However, applicants may still be able to commence at a L2.1 if suitably qualified or with requisite experience.
Level 1.3, $69,256 - Level 1.4, $72,068 per annum (pro-rata) (PSCA % commuted allowance (PSCA 2024)
Level 2, $76,912 - $82,464 per annum (pro-rata) (PSCA % commuted allowance (PSCA 2024)
Level 3, $86,439 - $92,795 per annum (pro-rata) (PSCA % commuted allowance (PSCA 2024)
