Primary objective
The Skills Centre Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Juno Skills Centre, ensuring the
smooth delivery of programs, and maintaining a high level of service quality. The role involves managing staff, coordinating resources,
optimising processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and enhancing the overall effectiveness and efficiency of Juno
Skills Centre operations.
Context statement
The Juno Skills Centre is a 250-hectare training facility based 10km east of Tennant Creek. Juno Skills Centre is an operational farm set
up to simulate real agricultural operations, such as livestock management and agrifood production. Juno Skills Centre has appropriate
facilities to host the delivery of vocational education and training programs in various industry fields as well as providing other educational
and research opportunities for students in tropical agriculture, horticulture and aquaculture. The Juno Skills Centre has residential blocks
for students, staff and visitor accommodation facilities available
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Develop and implement standardised systems, policies, and procedures to guide staff in identifying best practices and driving
continuous improvement for vocational education and training programs.
2. Encourage and facilitate team-oriented engagement among stakeholders, spanning diverse industry sectors and trades.
3. Oversee the operation, maintenance, and improvement of centre facilities, managing vendor relationships and ensuring service delivery
meets quality and safety standards. Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and space utilisation to support operational needs with minimal
disruption.
4. Oversee the collection, organisation, and storage of centre data, ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance with privacy regulations.
Prepare and present regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), operational performance including budgets, and project
status, providing insights to support decision-making.
5. Lead and manage projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
6. Deliver non-accredited and nationally accredited training and assessment to a variety of cohorts from regional and remote locations.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrate a strong ability to manage and work effectively within teams, cultivating a positive and inclusive culture through open
communication, respect, and a commitment to collective success.
2. Knowledge of facilities management, including overseeing maintenance, vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with safety
standards and optimising the use of physical space to support operational needs.
3. Experience in managing project budgets, timelines and scope, with an ability to adapt to changes and mitigate risks.
4. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement standardised systems and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and drive
continuous improvement.
5. Proven experience in managing data collection, ensuring accuracy, compliance and providing concise reports to inform decision-
making.
Desirable
1. TAE40122 Certificate IV Training and Assessment
2. Knowledge of emerging technologies and experience in improving operational efficiency through innovative use of technology and
digital solutions.
