Job Overview
Our organization is seeking an experienced professional to work as a Beekeeper at various sites throughout Queensland and New South Wales.
Responsibilities
* Remove honey crops in a timely and efficient manner.
* Develop and maintain healthy bee populations, including breeding and managing queen bees.
* Monitor and manage hive hygiene and bee health, identifying and removing pests as necessary.
* Coordinate the removal and relocation of hives, ensuring biosecurity and logistical requirements are met.
* Extract honey and other bee products in accordance with industry standards.
* Ensure all operations adhere to food safety and quality assurance protocols.
* Maintain and construct new hives as required.
Requirements
* Three to five years of commercial beekeeping experience.
* Previous experience working in an operation with more than 400 hives.
* Understanding of pollination requirements for a range of plants, including canola, faba beans, macadamias, avocados, and almonds.
* Ability to work weekends and extended periods away from home, occasionally up to two weeks in peak season.
* Capacity to undertake heavy manual tasks, including lifting and carrying.
* Certificate III in beekeeping would be advantageous.
* HC or HR vehicle license.
* Forklift, bobcat, and chainsaw tickets preferred.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team or independently when necessary.
