We are an independent, subscription-based news publisher looking for bright and curious journalists interested in legal reporting for a sophisticated readership of judges, barristers, solicitors and government officials. The reporter role at Lawyerly presents an opportunity for journalists who enjoy the drama of courts, or lawyers looking for a career change that will provide them all the excitement of the law without the drudgery and long hours. Our reporters cover high stakes cases and class actions in the busiest courts in Australia, in a comprehensive, in-depth fashion. All our reporting is original and we are often the first to break important developments in litigation. We pride ourselves on our balanced, objective and insightful coverage of legal news.
Responsibilities
Watch court hearings and write two to three news stories a day
Produce original, in-depth reporting on high-stakes cases and class actions
Contribute to a collaborative environment and help develop strong writing and reporting skills
Qualifications
Interest in the conflict of courtroom battles and the smarts to comprehend complex legal topics
Strong storytelling ability and a passion for providing clear, engaging legal coverage
Great opportunity for journalists or recent law school graduates

Salary: $60,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
Work arrangement: Work from home (flexible based on role)
Schedule: 8 hour shift
Supplemental pay: Christmas bonus
