Join to apply for the Mine Manager role at Cement Australia

We're looking for an experienced and well-rounded Mine Manager (also known as Quarry Manager) to oversee operations at our East End limestone mine, located in the Gladstone region. As part of Australia's largest integrated cement operation, we believe that the foundation of our success starts with quarry management and the mining of raw materials. In this role, you'll lead your team in safely and efficiently mining the product, while ensuring adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards, including the transport of materials to our Fisherman’s Landing site.

You will manage both operational and maintenance activities. As a key leader within our Gladstone operations, you'll play an integral role in driving both strategic and operational outcomes for the region. Balancing the demands of daily operations with long‑term goals, you'll make decisions that prioritise safety, sustainability, and cost‑effectiveness. Your ability to quickly identify and resolve challenges, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and inspire your team will be key to making a meaningful impact on the East End site.

To successfully lead our operations at the East End mine you will:

- Implement and maintain the mine's Safety & Health Management System by promoting good SHEQ behaviours and challenging non‑compliance.
- Plan and coordinate resources to identify and control risk and hazards. Ensure good housekeeping, environmental compliance and community consideration are maintained.
- Manage day‑to‑day work responsibilities for direct reports (including contractors and subcontractors such as drill and blast contractor).
- Ensure the site's operations are performed in the most cost‑effective way, reviewing and reporting on costs.
- Manage mine outputs to ensure raw material quality and variability are of a high standard and meet production requirements.
- Ensure the mine is progressively developed, creating daily and weekly mine schedules with long‑term consideration.
- Develop and manage the East End Mine capital portfolio.
- Lead, recruit and develop the people resources of the site to ensure employee productivity and engagement.
- Develop and implement mine strategic plans for the site.
- Provide monthly production KPI reporting.
- Responsibly manage the ongoing operation, maintenance and efficiency of mine equipment (fixed & mobile plant), overseeing planned maintenance as per schedule and budget.
- Proactively engage with key stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring

- Qualifications in Mining Engineering, Geology or a related area.
- Experience as a Mining Engineer or in mine planning at limestone or a similar mine or quarry.
- Successful proven record in mining for cement operations in a leadership role.
- Site Senior Executive certification (over 20 people) or eligibility to obtain.
- Solid leadership skills combined with experience managing teams in mining/quarrying.
- People management skills, ideally including experience in leading operational staff.
- A focus on safety and environment with demonstrated commitment to these areas.
- An aptitude for and success in budget and cost management.
- Experience in both mobile and fixed plant assets.
- Well‑developed written and verbal communication.
- Ability and willingness to live locally in the Gladstone region.
