The Role
* New Product Design: Design and develop new products as directed by the Platform Leader according to the requirements of the Generation Plan.
* Cost Reduction: Investigate and implement projects to reduce DM (Direct Material) and DL (Direct Labour) costs.
* Quality Improvement: Investigate and implement projects to improve the quality of the manufactured products to reduce the warranty SCR (Service Call Rate).
What You'll Do
* Design, develop and modify components and finished assemblies
* Construct 3D CAD models and create detailed drawings using CATIA software
* Coordinate the prototyping, performance and quality verification, tooling quotation, part cost quotation, sourcing, production trialing and approval of components and finished assemblies
* Liaise with appropriate departments including Quality, Purchasing, Production, Logistics, Manufacturing Engineering and Tooling Engineering
* Construct and update BOM's (Bill of Materials) and ECN's (Engineering Change Notices)
* Coordinate and assist in the introduction of components and assemblies into production
* Follow up and rectify problems found with components and assemblies
* Participate in Project Teams
* Participate in FMEA's (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
* Prepare timing plans and risk assessments
* The project management, progress tracking and the reporting of project status
* Support the introduction and ramp-up of new models into production

Key Capabilities
* Extensive knowledge of engineering concepts and materials (predominantly metals and plastics)
* Sound understanding of quality assurance principles
* Knowledge of a wide variety of production processes
Skills / Experience
* 6+ years of relevant Engineering experience
* Competent in the use of CATIA V5 CAD software
* Project Management skills
* Good judgement, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
* Knowledge of ECR (Engineering Change Request) and ECN (Engineering Change Notice) systems
* Ability to prioritise projects and self‑manage own workload
* Ability to work with and build relationships with people at all levels within the organisation
* Ability to work in a cross‑functional matrix organisation
* Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to team and project meetings
* Ability to work in an open plan office
* Good written, verbal communication and presentation skills
* Attention to detail, and accuracy in numeracy, reporting and presenting
* Results orientated
Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical Engineering. NOTE: Applicants must have valid Australian work rights at the time of application. E.g. Citizenship, PR or a valid unrestricted work visa.
