About the Business:
Jane Hill is a leading figure within the Australian bridal industry and has been designing and creating gowns for the past 30 years. Jane Hill has followed our original vision to create custom and ready to wear gowns to the highest possible standard for the modern bride.
Each gown is designed and prototyped in our Melbourne studio by a production team with a wealth of knowledge in couture.
We are a friendly, tight knit team that work closely together to create an inviting and enjoyable workplace. We strive to provide our brides with high quality, beautiful gowns that enhance the joy and love they should experience on their big day.
About the Role:
This role would be suitable for an individual that has an exceptional eye for detail and is passionate about fashion production and would like to build a career in this area.
Knowledge on garment construction and the ability to hand sew is required. Each Jane Hill gown is put through an extensive QC process to ensure correct design, placement for lace and bead work, as well as investigating the overall aesthetics.
This role will include but not limited to:
- Examining allocated gowns with a detailed eye, to identify the quality of our product in accordance with our brands policy.
- Following quality control guidelines to ensure the garment meets our quality standards.
- Working closely with our production team to resolve any issues or concerns with the garment.
- Amending any issue with hand work if required and discussing any larger concerns with our production team.
- Packing gowns that have been QC’ed into appropriate packages ready for collection and/or shipping.
- Light admin duties
- Workroom tidying
Skills and Experience:
We’re looking for someone who has studied fashion design at tertiary level or a similar course outline. Please note that this is a requirement for the position, and only applicants with this will be considered for the role.
Skills required but not limited to:
- Have an exceptional attention for detail
- Experience with garment construction and have sewing skills
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organisation skills, including time management and multitasking
- Understanding fabrication
- Being able to work in a quick-paced work environment
- Motivated and driven to complete tasks
- Have the ability to lift, bend and move heavy items
What we’re offering:
This role allows the applicant to be involved in an esteemed bridal company, with international recognition.
This is a seasonal position between October 2025 and March 2026, where we are offering between 2-5 days a week, our working hours are 8am-4pm. Would suit a university student looking for industry experience between semesters. We are looking for the applicant to have an immediate start at our Richmond workroom.
