About us
Legal Aid NSW delivers accessible legal services across criminal, family and civil law. We provide advice, court representation, and family dispute resolution through 28 offices and phone-based support, helping people navigate the legal system with confidence and fairness.
Legal Aid NSW is seeking an organised, proactive Facilities Officer to help deliver safe, functional and well‑maintained workplaces across our 28 offices statewide. This is a fantastic role for someone with practical facilities management experience, strong coordination skills, and a passion for problem‑solving in a busy operational environment.
About the role
In this role you will be the first point of contact for all maintenance and property enquiries, coordinating building repairs and essential services, managing service requests, and supporting the delivery of essential facilities services including cleaning, security, maintenance, WHS, environmental services, and contractor compliance.
You will work closely with our Facilities team, contractors, and local office staff to ensure day‑to‑day operations run smoothly and that issues are resolved promptly and professionally.
This role suits someone who enjoys juggling competing priorities, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and brings a practical, solutions‑focused mindset.
As a Facilities Officer, you will be part of a high‑performing, collaborative team that supports the day‑to‑day operation of Legal Aid NSW workplaces across the state.
Although you will work closely with the broader Facilities team, you'll also be trusted to manage your own workload, problem‑solve independently, and take ownership of issues through to resolution.
About you
We are seeking someone who has:
* Experience in facilities management, property maintenance coordination, building operations or a similar support role
* Strong organisational and prioritisation skills to manage high volumes of work and multiple concurrent tasks
* Experience dealing with contractors, trades, and diverse internal stakeholders
* Good judgment in determining what to action immediately and what to escalate
* The ability to communicate clearly, professionally and with empathy
* A commitment to safe work practices and maintaining compliance standards
Experience in government, legal environments, or sensitive workplaces is an advantage but not essential.
If you enjoy working as part of a team, take pride in solving problems, and have experience coordinating facilities or building maintenance services, we'd love to hear from you.
What's in it for you
* An opportunity to support a mission‑driven organisation focused on access to justice
* Exposure to a wide variety of building types, from modern offices to longstanding regional assets
* A collaborative, supportive Facilities team with strong mentoring
* Opportunities to grow your property and FM skills within a large, multi‑site agency
* Flexible work arrangements and a strong commitment to wellbeing
