Overview

Procurement Manager, AU Operations at Amazon — Sydney or Melbourne based.

Amazon Australia Operations is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to support the growing volume and complexity of partnership agreements.

The successful candidate will be on the front lines of putting in place partnership agreements with carriers, responsible for executing the sourcing strategy, spend analysis, strategic partnerships, vendor identification and development, as well as tactical elements such as leading negotiations, including creating proposals and collaborating with internal stakeholders (such as the legal, finance, security and compliance teams) and closing.

The Procurement Manager will need to understand the impact of contract terms, compliance obligations, business concerns, etc., and be able to explain contract terms to stakeholders whilst identifying ways to meet customers’ needs. The successful candidate will lead the effort to resolve all carrier questions and concerns in contract negotiations, including collaboration with internal stakeholders on specific areas of concern.

The successful candidate will be an expert in bringing the account teams and the customer to final closure including obtaining required approvals, creating final agreements, and managing their delivery and execution. The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about delivery services, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

This role can be based from either Sydney or Melbourne.

Responsibilities

- Implement sourcing strategy to achieve step changes in cost structure, capacity and diversification by analysing and reviewing transportation capability in the AU market against business requirements
- Identify and develop carrier partners across categories, with a focus on partners who can drive innovation, sustainability, speed and customer experience
- Advise and provide thought leadership on the execution of competitive commercial, channel, and partner deal opportunities
- Develop innovative commercial models and negotiate delivery services agreements
- Execute contracts and competitive structures - maximizing the value of opportunities consistent with AU Ops objectives and requirements
- Work closely with global partners and local stakeholders to understand existing vendor negotiation tools and contracts, and assess gaps for the AU market
- Drive effective application of negotiation tools and products
- Engage directly with the partner on commercial and contractual terms
- Close commercial transactions: brief senior management and coordinate internal and customer stakeholders

Skills And Abilities

- Ability to lead partner-facing negotiations
- Ability to explain standard agreement terms to counterparties and negotiate fallback positions where appropriate
- Ability to act as a trusted advisor to business teams to support strategy, negotiation and execution of enterprise agreements
- Strong customer orientation and commercial acumen
- Ability to drive strong cross-functional engagement with internal and external teams
- Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple negotiations

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or equivalent qualification
- Experience in delivering and influencing business processes using data analysis, modelling and forecasting
- Experience in commercial contract experience and facilitation of large cross-functional teams
- Strong oral and written communication skills — ability to simplify complex topics for broad audiences
- Attention to detail and high ability for data mining with strong analytical orientation; comfortable using databases and analytical tools
- Creative and ideas-driven in finding new solutions/designing innovative methods, systems and processes
- Ability to prepare, report and interpret large sets of data

Preferred Qualifications

- This role suits a procurement qualified with a business, commerce or engineering degree, though open to all bachelors
- Experience in quick-paced, highly complex analytical environments, preferably in supply chain, e-commerce, consulting or finance
- Highly analytical with ability to communicate effectively with customers and senior management
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a rapid-paced, team-oriented environment
