A* medical receptionist is the first point of contact in a healthcare setting, responsible for managing patient interactions, administrative tasks, and supporting smooth clinic operations.*
Key Responsibilities
* Patient Interaction: Greet patients and visitors warmly, verify personal information, explain intake forms, and provide a welcoming environment to set a positive tone for the visit.
* Appointment Management: Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments according to physician availability, and handle cancellations or rescheduling.
* Administrative Duties: Maintain and update patient records in electronic health record (Genie) systems, process insurance paperwork, issue invoices and receipts, and manage payments.
* Communication: Answer phone calls promptly, respond to patient inquiries, and coordinate communication between patients and healthcare staff.
* Office Support: Assist doctors and nurses with clerical tasks such as photocopying, scanning, filing, and preparing outgoing mail.
* Compliance and Confidentiality: Ensure patient privacy according to HIPAA regulations, maintain a tidy reception area, and adhere to workplace health and safety
* Required Skills and Qualifications
* Experience in medical or administrative roles preferred.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, empathy, and professionalism.
* Ability to multitask and manage high volumes of patients and phone calls efficiently.
* Familiarity with medical terminology and proficiency in electronic medical records (Genie) systems.
* Organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
