Barto Gold is a privately owned Australian gold explorer, developer, and producer operating since 2009, focused on gold exploration and production in Western Australia. Our flagship project in Marvel Loch, WA, involves multiple open pits and underground mines to service a 2.1Mt per annum name plate processing facility.
Due to significant project investment, we are well-positioned to develop multiple >5 year mine life underground mines, in conjunction with our multiple open pit operations. The company has extended its current UG operations at the Jacoletti UG operation and recommenced operations at the historic Marvel Loch and Fraser's UG mines, as well as a suite of open pit mining opportunities.
We are seeking an Underground Project Mine Geologist to join our Southern Cross operation on a BIBO basis from Perth, 8 days on, 6 days off. The successful applicant will join a dynamic team, applying advanced geological expertise to ensure efficient mineral resource extraction while prioritizing safety.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years' experience in a mine geology role, with at least three years of experience in an underground operation, preferably in a narrow-vein Au or base metals environment.
Essential skills, qualifications, and personal attributes include:
- Tertiary qualifications in Geology.
- 5 years geological experience in mining operations with at least 3 years in an underground setting.
- Proactive in adding value through accurate geological data collection and interpretation.
- Professional planning, analytical, report writing, and communication skills.
- High-level administrative skills, including meeting deadlines.
- Working knowledge of 3D mining software packages (desirable).
- C-Class WA Driver's License.
- Full Working Rights in Australia.
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Senior Underground Geologist with wireframing and GC block model updates.
- Underground drill rig management and supervision.
- Overseeing day-to-day mine geology activities, including face mapping, face sampling, and updating plans and sections.
- Supervising ore tracking and reporting movements and grade control operations.
- Ensuring the Geology Department provides high-quality technical service to other departments.
- Championing safety through active participation in pre-starts, JHAs, and hazard management.
- Mentoring and training team members to build technical capability.
- Providing interpretation of deposit structure, lithology, alteration, and mineralization.
