About the Role
Major Component Upgrade Lead Technician responsible for leading and assuring that assigned MCU operations are executed according to GE’s SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost) priorities.
Responsibilities
- Lead at site the preparation, coordination, execution and reporting for each assigned MCU operation.
- Guide all parties involved to achieve the highest EHS, quality and cost standards.
- Ensure all workers, including contractors, are properly qualified and trained.
- Partner with MCU PM, GE Service Teams, Contractors and other functions to deliver best‑in‑class MCU execution.
- Proactively identify and address potential unplanned situations.
- Maintain documentation and provide internal reporting.
- Identify ideas for improvement in SQDC and collaborate on new tools and methodology.
- Review and provide feedback on MCU Work instructions (WDI’s) and support Methods & Process team.
- Comply with statutory and GE internal EHS requirements.
- Operate the WTG required for MCU purposes as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- At least 3 years experience leading crane operations in end‑to‑end execution.
- At least 3 years experience within Wind Maintenance sector or other energy or industrial segments.
- High safety and quality mindset.
- Flexibility to travel (>85%) domestically and abroad and adjust working hours.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of a European language.
- Strong teamwork and leadership ability in a dynamic matrix environment.
- Excellent safety awareness and ability to anticipate issues.
- Able to work at heights and physically fit.
- Familiar with Wind Turbine Generator mechanical/electrical areas.
- Familiar with MS Office and GE software tools.
- Ability to work independently.
- Class B driving license and Australian work permit.
