About Monash Doctors

To help grow your career, there are more than 1,900 Junior and 1,700 Senior Doctors at Monash Health in over 200 medical specialties. We offer unparallel opportunities in Victoria's largest & most clinically diverse teaching health service.

About the Endocrine Surgery Unit

The Endocrine Surgery Unit at Monash Health is an active surgical unit across all sites of the network, operating at Monash Medical Centre Clayton and Casey Hospital Berwick. The unit deals with all benign and malignant surgery associated with the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands and provides specialty services to the Endocrinology Unit and Renal Unit amongst others. The unit activities include outpatient clinics, MDT meetings and unit audit meetings on a regular basis, along with theatre lists.

The unit is also supported by a GSA SET trainee attached to the unit. To support this training position, the unit performs greater than 100 major surgical cases per year. The unit is active in both surgical innovation and research with some of the Senior Medical staff holding substantive academic positions within Monash University.

About the Role

The new appointee to the unit will be expected to take part in all the aspects of the unit, including regular theatre sessions, outpatient and MDT meetings along with surgical audit. Opportunities will exist in joining the acute surgical roster in General Surgery at some of the Monash Health sites and also to potentially cover sabbatical leave and long service leave within the unit.

The new appointee will actively involve themselves in research and JMS support and teaching at all levels including clinical students from Monash University.

It is expected that all applicants will have significant post fellowship (FRACS or equivalent) training in Endocrine Surgery. Opportunities exist to receive support for further professional study including leadership training. The position is an ongoing substantive appointment.
