Role Overview
The Mechanical Lead Engineer will oversee a team of engineers in designing and developing hypersonic flight vehicles and related support systems.
* Manage the entire engineering lifecycle for mechanical systems, from design to production and testing.
* Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers to achieve project objectives.
* Provide technical guidance and expertise across the broader engineering team.
* Review and approve mechanical designs and analyses for quality and compliance.
* Ensure that mechanical designs are optimized for manufacturability, reliability, and performance.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new technologies and processes.
* Work closely with suppliers and customers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee the development of mechanical systems, including conceptual design, detailed design, prototyping, and testing.
2. Manage and mentor a team of mechanical engineers to achieve project goals.
3. Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
4. Contribute to the development of new technologies and processes.
5. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize project objectives.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
* Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) / Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), or eligibility to obtain.
* Demonstrated prior experience (at least 5 years) of experience in mechanical systems design and simulation, within aerospace or other high-technology industries.
* Proven track record in leading engineering teams with a collaborative, hands-on leadership style.
* Experience in configuration management and the use of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems for managing mechanical designs and CAD data.
