Synchronous Building Automation is a leader in building automation solutions, specialising in advanced systems that enhance the efficiency and functionality of commercial and industrial facilities. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated BMS Service Technician to join our team in the ACT, ensuring the optimal performance of our clients' building management and control systems.
The Controls Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal functionality, performance, and efficiency of building management and controls systems. This role involves installing, programming, commissioning, and maintaining a variety of systems including HVAC controls, lighting systems, access control, and security systems.
The Opportunity
As a BMS Service Technician, you’ll ensure our clients’ assets perform reliably, efficiently and sustainably.
You will:
* Maintain and optimise complex integrated BMS and lighting control systems
* Diagnose and resolve advanced faults across HVAC controls and electrical panels
* Proactively tune systems (PID loops, time schedules, energy drift prevention)
* Support apprentices and technicians as a technical escalation point
* Manage minor upgrade works from quote through to commissioning
* Identify and deliver value-add upgrades including:
o Energy analysis solutions (Janitza)
o EV charging infrastructure
o IoT and networking integrations (Fortinet)
* Build trusted relationships with facility managers and engineering teams
* Occasionally travel interstate for specialist support and commissioning
What We’re Looking For
Essential Criteria:
* Trade qualification:
o Electrical Licence (Restricted or Unrestricted), or
o HVAC/Refrigeration trade background with strong controls experience
* Demonstrated BMS experience (installation, commissioning or maintenance)
* Experience with:
o Tridium Niagara, Schneider Electric or Distech Controls
o Legacy systems (e.g. Trend) highly regarded
* Strong fault-finding capability across DDC and BMS hardware
* Ability to read wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and plant documentation
* Intermediate computer skills (Excel, databases)
* Valid Driver’s Licence and White Card
