The Role
An APS 6 Project Officer - Governance is accountable, under broad direction, for delivering complex project and governance work within an integrated workforce. The role requires a strong understanding of, and compliance with, relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making processes, and Defence mission and policy requirements. Project Officer - Governance works independently with reasonable autonomy and is accountable for achieving outcomes within their area of responsibility. They exercise initiative and judgement in interpreting policy and applying established practices and procedures.
The role provides detailed technical, professional and policy advice whether in project management or governance—on complex matters, and contributes to strategic planning, program and project management, and policy development.

The Pacific Division plays a central role in advancing Australia’s engagement, cooperation, and regional stability across the Pacific. Our teams work closely with partner governments, regional organisations, and whole-of-government stakeholders to design and deliver initiatives that strengthen security, resilience, and prosperity throughout the region. Pacific Division Program Management Office (PDPMO) enables the Division through the delivery of quality, effective and efficient people, governance and risk outcomes.
We design, implement and continually improve strategic frameworks, systems and tools, and build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support our Branches to deliver key outcomes against Pacific Division’s National Defence Strategy (NDS) objectives.
