About the Business and Role –
S. Smith Builders Pty Ltd are award winning luxury home building specialists with over 30 years' experience in building and development on the Mornington Peninsula. We are searching for a Leading Hand Carpenter / Site Supervisor to join our team. Great opportunity to work with an established high-profile Company on the beautiful Southern Mornington Peninsula.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities –
Key Roles include –
· Read and interpret detailed site plans and project documentation
· Coordination and supervision of all site works and trades to ensure efficient and detailed completion of all project components from start to finish
· Problem solving building and trade issues
· Lead and coordinate carpentry crew, including apprentices
· Site set-out, framing, lock up, fixing and finishing
· Motivating the employees and contractors on site
· Adherence to S. Smith Builders Pty Ltd procedures
· Adherence of all workers and contractors on site to S. Smith Builders Pty Ltd OH & S Management Plan including induction sessions as required to ensure the safety, health and welfare of all workers and site visitors
· Maintaining quality control procedures to ensure all works are completed to the highest standard
· Ensuring all tools on site are cleaned, maintained, adjusted & calibrated to an acceptable & safe standard at all times
· Ensuring building projects are completed on time and on budget
· Liaising with Construction Manager, Business owners, professional contractors (including but not limited to architects & surveyors), clients and the public
· Booking Building Surveyor inspections at required project stages
· Attendance & involvement in site meetings as required by the client& S. Smith Builders Pty Ltd
· Arranging supplies of material & equipment including ordering of materials as required and coordinating and accepting deliveries to site
· Prepare site reports and detail drawings as required
· Prompt notification of any delays to the Construction Manager
· Prompt notification of any staff or contractor issues on site to the Construction Manager
· Prompt and timely documentation of any defects and prompt rectification of same
· Monitoring of work completed by outside contractors to ensure adherence to State and Federal Building Code requirements
· Ensuring the project site is locked and secure at the end of each working day
Skills, Experience & Requirements –
· A minimum of 3 years' experience as a leading hand / carpenter on architectural residential and / or commercial builds between $1,000,000 and $4,000,000.00
· Proven leadership, time management and excellent communication skills
· Carpentry Trade Qualification
· Own tools, reliable vehicle and current drivers' licence
· Demonstrable knowledge of OH & S requirements
· Strong attention to detail & high-quality finishing
· Effective problem solver
· Positive and motivating personality
· Reliable, punctual, honest and respectful
· Excellent communication skills and presentation
· White / Red Card
· Ability to work well in a team
· Police check
