Registrar – Trainee/Service – Paediatrics – General
Pool Ref: 00510719 – Fixed Term (Full Time or Part Time), 6–12 months with possibility of extension(s). Appointments may be made from the pool until 31/10/2026.
Position Profile
Successful applicants will be part of a busy team working with the support of 11 general paediatricians who are enthusiastic teachers and mentors. The team operates a 24‐bed paediatric ward and daily outpatient clinics supported by allied health professionals. Fiona Stanley Hospital has one of the busiest emergency departments in the country, including a separate children's emergency department with a 4‐bed observation ward that sees 26,000 children per year.
FSH offers a busy outpatient service covering general paediatrics and paediatric subspecialties (neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, respiratory, endocrinology and immunology). A multidisciplinary feeding team provides support for complex paediatric feeding disorders. Full access to paediatric radiology, paediatric anaesthetic MRI, other paediatric investigations, EEG services and an active medical simulation program is available. The hospital hosts University of Notre Dame and Curtin medical students.
The role is accredited for advanced trainees as General Paediatrics (No Perinatal, Acute Care ED) and for basic trainees for General Paediatrics, Neonates and Emergency. Up to 27 months of the 36‐month Basic Training may be undertaken at FSH; up to 12 months of Core Advanced training (6/12 general paediatrics without perinatal and 6/12 Acute Care ED) may also be undertaken here. RACP Clinical Examination and two Directors of Paediatric Education (DPE) are available.
