We are seeking a Technical Production Manager – Tool Grinding & Sales Engineer to be a key member of our tool grinding production management team while also acting as a technical interface to customers.

This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who is equally comfortable leading production on the factory floor and engaging directly with customers to specify, optimise, and sell tooling solutions. You will play a critical role in aligning production capability with customer needs, driving continuous improvement, and supporting revenue growth through technical credibility.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

* Implement and improve production processes, tooling strategies, and standard work.
* Work within ISO 9001 quality systems, ensuring traceability, documentation, and continuous improvement.

Technical Sales & Customer Engineering

* Act as a technical sales engineer, working directly with customers to understand applications, materials, and performance requirements.
* Provide tooling recommendations, geometry optimisation, and application support to improve customer outcomes.
* Support quoting and specification of custom tools and regrinds, bridging sales and production seamlessly.
* Build long-term customer relationships through technical trust and problem-solving capability.

Leadership & Collaboration

* Lead and mentor toolmakers and operators, setting clear expectations and standards.
* Work closely with management on production planning, investment decisions, and strategic growth initiatives.
* Collaborate across the wider RJS Tech Group where required.
About You

You are a technically strong, commercially aware manufacturing professional with deep experience in tool grinding or cutting tool production.

Essential Experience & Skills

* Strong background in CNC tool grinding (carbide tooling, regrinds, custom tools).
* Ability to engage directly with customers in a technical sales or application engineering capacity.
* Proven experience building revenue growth through customer interaction.
* Solid understanding of machining processes, materials, and cutting tool performance.
* Comfortable balancing factory-floor leadership with external customer interaction.

Highly Regarded

* Experience with advanced tool geometries and high-performance applications.
* Exposure to surface engineering or coated tooling environments.
* Commercial awareness and contribution to sales growth or customer retention.
* Experience operating within ISO-certified quality systems.

Salary & Package

Total remuneration package: AUD $120,000 – $200,000, dependent on experience, capability, and contribution.
