About the role Lead the Future of Specialised Training at the Corrective Services Academy The Corrective Services Academy (the Academy) is an Enterprise Registered Training Organisation and is responsible for the identification and delivery of learning and professional development for all Corrective Services staff, including foundation, ongoing work skills, corporate governance and compliance and leadership development.
The Academy's Operational Training Branch consists of five sections and is accountable for developing and delivering training in accordance with Corrective Services operational requirements, with a focus on foundation training for front line staff working in custodial and community settings.
As the Manager Specialised Training, you'll be at the forefront of operational excellence.
Based at the Academy, this pivotal role is responsible for the management, coordination and supervision of the Specialised Training Section within the Operational Training Branch.
The position manages, advises, promotes and coordinates the delivery of specialised skills training for Corrective Services staff including safety and security and emergency response, with an emphasis on those staff coming into contact with offenders.
You'll provide strategic advice to the Assistant Director Operational Training, champion innovation, and lead continuous improvement in a dynamic reform-focused environment.
Your expertise in the oversight of the delivery of practical operational training, competency-based assessment (including scenario assessments), and RTO compliance will be key to maintaining standards and driving quality outcomes.
As part of the Operational Training Branch, the successful applicant will be expected to: Acting as part of the Academy's Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
Maintaining focus on priorities outlined in the Corrective Services Strategic Plan *********.
Coordinating and developing specialised operational training in line with best practice, including Defensive Equipment and Techniques (Use of Force), Fire Response (including Compressed Air Breathing Apparatus), First Aid, and Personal Safety.
Representing Corrective Services and the Academy as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for specialised operational training, providing advice on standards and application of skills within operational environments.
Ensuring the Department's Registered Training Organisation (RTO) accreditation is maintained through adherence to standards and procedures.
Coordinating and delivering specialised operational training statewide at custodial facilities as required.
Eligibility Qualifications - Possession of or progression towards a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
