Staff Specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine – Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital
Temporary Full Time – 12‑month contract. Applications close 21 January 2026.
The Rehabilitation Unit at Tamworth Hospital is a 22‑bed inpatient unit that provides comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation services to the Northern sector of HNELHD. The unit offers vital services including:
* Transitional Living Unit for Brain Injury
* New England Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service (Neuropsychology, Physiotherapy, Dietitian, Speech Pathologist, Occupational therapist, social work, Paediatric case manager, Aboriginal liaison officer)
* New England Spinal Cord Injury Service (Coordinator Caroline Cone)
* Amputee Clinics (attended by ForMotion Prosthetics and Orthotics)
* Outpatient clinics and outreach clinics for our regional towns of Moree and Narrabri
Our team comprises two Rehab Physicians, a Registrar (we are accredited for advanced training with AFRM(RACP)), supported by a Junior Medical Officer, an expert Registered Nursing team and MDT team including Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Speech Pathology, and Dietetics. We proudly support the teaching of Medical Students and work closely with the Primary Care General Practice community.
