COMPASS Recruitment are working with a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, who have a track record in delivering engineering solutions across the Water sector, in their search for a Design Manager. Minimum Qualifications: Degree in Mechanical, Process/Chemical or Civil Engineering. 10 or more years' experience in mechanical, civil or process engineering discipline Experience in managing the engineering and design aspects of multiple multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects Experience in preparation of project design objectives, schedules, risk management plans and cost management Experience in team leadership and stakeholder management Good influencing, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills Experience working in Alliances, Joint Ventures or other partnerships with constructors to enable delivery of shared program or project outcomes Preferred Qualifications: Chartered in the relevant discipline by Engineers Australia or equivalent. Good understanding of brownfield projects' operational requirements, process interruption issues and project planning Experience in water and wastewater industry (pump stations, chemical dosing, treatment plant upgrades) Experience in concept and detailed design and commissioning Project management experience HAZOP / CHAIR / Other Safety in Design facilitation experience Competent with project management tools such as MS Project and Miro The day to day role will include; Manage the project design team, sub-contractors, and stakeholders to deliver designs on time and on budget. Utilise and improve existing design delivery processes with your design teams to improve efficiency of design delivery. Manage design governance to deliver high-quality design deliverables in accordance with client requirements. Prepare estimation of project design budgets and programs. Provide leadership and coordinate the delivery of multi-disciplinary designs for infrastructure projects. Ensure engineering deliverables meet project and business needs. Coordination of digital engineering deliverables in collaboration with the Digital Engineering Lead. Engage with stakeholders to ensure optimisation of project decision making between program management (original scope), legal compliance, lifecycle cost, operational security, and over-arching asset strategy.
