We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quality Officer to join a dynamic, market-leading BRC/HACCP-certified manufacturer. Based at our Pakenham facility, this permanent role offers the chance to work with well-established brands alongside a high-performing and collaborative team.
As our business continues through a significant growth phase, we are seeking a highly motivated individual who will play a pivotal role in driving quality assurance and quality control across a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is critical to ensuring product integrity, food safety, and continuous improvement across all operations.
Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining robust quality control systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards, and supporting operational teams to achieve best-practice outcomes. You will work at the centre of the business, engaging with internal stakeholders at all levels as well as external partners.
Key Responsibilities
• Implement, monitor, and continuously improve quality assurance and quality control systems across raw materials, in-process, and finished goods.
• Conduct product inspections and ensure adherence to quality control procedures and specifications.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve non-conformances, including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
• Monitor production processes to ensure consistent product quality and food safety compliance.
• Lead and participate in internal and external audits, including BRC and HACCP requirements.
• Develop and execute sampling plans, testing procedures, and data collection processes.
• Analyse quality data and trends to identify improvement opportunities.
• Investigate customer complaints and out-of-specification results (raw materials, packaging, finished goods, and environmental factors).
• Maintain and manage document control systems, specifications, and quality records.
• Support supplier quality management, including COA verification, supplier audits, performance reviews, and non-conformance management.
• Maintain and review programs such as VACCP and approved supplier systems.
• Verify artwork and packaging compliance against standards.
• Deliver quality and food safety training to production and operational staff.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety legislation, standards, and company policies.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement in both quality assurance and quality control across the site.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
• Tertiary qualifications in Quality, Food Science, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role within food or FMCG manufacturing.
• Strong working knowledge of HACCP, BRC, and ISO standards.
• Proven experience in quality assurance and quality control, including inspection, auditing, and testing.
• Sound understanding of food safety regulations and audit requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with supplier quality management and audit processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
