The East Kimberley
The East Kimberley is a stunning and sparsely populated area in the northeast corner of Western Australia and is known as one of the world's last wilderness frontiers. The Opportunity
We are looking for expressions of interest from experienced and motivated Rangers to join our pool of rangers in Kununurra. Your duties will include ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and providing high standards of service to the Shire and our Community. Specific responsibilities include:
- Ensuring compliance with the Dog Act 1976, Cat Act 2011, Control of Off-Road Vehicles Act 1978, Litter Act 1979, Caravan and Camping Grounds Act 1995, Bush Fire Act 1994, and the Local Government Act and the Shire's Local Laws in a fair and consistent manner;
- Undertaking fire break and property inspections to ensure compliance with the Bush Fires Act 1954;
- Undertaking bushfire control and weather officer duties in line with the Bush Fires Act 1954;
- Implementing fire control measures including controlled burns and fire extinguishment;
- Responding to abandoned vehicles in accordance with relevant legislation;
- Managing the animal management facility, including cleaning, maintaining registers, releasing, rehoming, or euthanising animals when necessary, and coordinating fee collection;
- Undertaking the removal and relocation of snakes within municipal boundaries.
You will bring
- Regulatory compliance skills;
- Current Provide First Aid certification;
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Basic Emergency Life Support qualifications;
- Current unrestricted WA "C" Class Driver's Licence;
- Reptile handling and capture experience and certification;
- Firearms handling and safety certification and experience.
You will also need strong organisation and time management skills, and demonstrate strong computer literacy, excellent communication, negotiation, and mediation skills.

This pool will be open for a period of 12 months. Casual appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
