The Role

Work as part of the relevant Hospital's Pharmacy Department and Pharmacy Team to provide comprehensive, efficient, and accountable pharmacy services for hospital inpatients and outpatients.

* Dispense medications for inpatient, outpatient, and discharge supply in accordance with all legal requirements and within the parameters of various medication access schemes such as the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, the Special Access Scheme, Section 100, Clinical Trials, and Early Access Schemes.
* Routinely offer verbal and written medicines information and other supporting health advice to patients.
* Provide medication information to hospital staff and contribute to their knowledge of medication‐related issues.

The Team

The Statewide Hospital Pharmacy Northwest team includes rotational pharmacists and technicians, specialist pharmacists and leadership roles, providing high‐level pharmacy services to both the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie and the Mersey Community Hospital in Latrobe. Pharmacies work across both sites and collaborate closely with medical, nursing and allied health teams to deliver patient‐centred medicine‐related care.

The Northwest Hospitals Pharmacy Department is an accredited Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPha) Resident Training Program Site, offering a 2‐year structured workplace training program that supports developing clinical pharmacy, operational and self‐development skills.

You will need to

* Have pharmacy experience in a range of activities such as dispensing or clinical pharmacy, preferably in a hospital setting, and experience applying relevant legislation, codes of practice and workplace guidelines.
* Be capable of delivering comprehensive Clinical Pharmacy Services including best‐possible medication history taking, developing medication management and action plans with a multi‐disciplinary team, and providing patient education throughout inpatient care; training is available on‐the‐job.
* Have demonstrated working knowledge of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.
* Be able to assess and evaluate drug regimens and provide tailored advice to other health professionals and patients.

Details of appointment

* Multiple permanent, full‐time shift‐worker positions available, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Position Features

* Pharmacists may work at any site within Pharmacy Services or at specified locations of other nominated health providers, including Mental Health Services in the region.
* May be required to participate in weekend and on‐call services.

Salary

* 73,834 to 111,364 per annum plus a 12% superannuation contribution. The salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wage Agreement No.2 of 2022.

Salary Packaging

Access to a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010, $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year, and other eligible benefits.

Allowances

* Professional Development Allowance up to $1,000 per annum.
* A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro‐rata applicable to this role.

Eligibility

* Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
* Tertiary qualification or programme of study approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or completion of an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council.
* Experienced overseas‐trained Pharmacist – provisional registration requiring less than 6 months (900 hours) supervised practice to obtain full registration.
* These are not internship positions.
