About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Process Engineer / Chemical Engineer/ Metallurgist to join our inclusive and diverse Maintenance Planning & Engineering (MP&E) Team. This unique role will enable you to provide technical support for operations and maintenance teams, assisting in improving plant availability and performance to maximise plant throughput while minimising costs.
A focus on optimisation and process improvement is key.
Key Responsibilities
* Adhere to all Rio Tinto standards, policies, and procedures.
* Foster a positive safety culture to promote safety awareness and compliance.
* Continuously improve by identifying, evaluating, and implementing improvement opportunities using Rio Tinto best practices.
* Collaborate with other functions and stakeholders.
* Perform troubleshooting, optimisation, and continuous improvement of the plant.
* Ensure plant capacity is optimised and production targets are met.
* Investigate deviations from the plan and recommend solutions.
* Provide technical support to operations and maintenance crews.
* Validate downtime data per RTIO standards.
* Report plant performance regularly.
* Prepare operating strategies and manage conformance to plans.
* Support shutdowns and technical queries.
* Engage with suppliers and the Central Process Engineering Team for technical collaboration.
About You
To succeed, you will have:
* A degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Process Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills.
* Analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
* Understanding of processing unit operations and optimisation levers.
* Experience leading improvement projects and defect elimination processes.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with experience in PowerBI and SQL being advantageous.
* A current 'C' Class Driver's License (Manual).
Work Location
This role offers an 8/6 roster, with options for residential in Tom Price or FIFO from Perth. Tom Price, located in the central Pilbara, offers excellent amenities and recreational facilities and is known for its attractive living environment.
