You’ll contribute to delivering innovative and reliable solutions across Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), PLC and DCS programming, Historian systems, and broader digital transformation initiatives.We are looking for a proactive, hands-on engineer with strong problem-solving skills who can diagnose and resolve control system issues quickly and effectively. If you are a self-starter with initiative and the ability to take ownership of tasks, prioritise effectively, and deliver results under tight timelines, this role is an excellent fit.**Key Responsibilities*** Perform comprehensive system and application testing.* Design intuitive and reliable HMI/SCADA graphics, process databases, and reports.* Develop and deliver operator and system maintenance training.* Draft, execute, and maintain application and system test procedures.* Complete and maintain accurate technical documentation, drawings, and maintenance records.* Track, manage, and communicate system issues effectively with clients and management.* Configure and commission SCADA and control systems on site.* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and innovative automation solutions.**Qualifications & Skills*** Tertiary qualification in Engineering or Computer Science (Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related discipline).* Strong knowledge and experience in designing, installing, testing, and commissioning integrated control systems.* Demonstrated experience with SCADA and/or HMI graphics and database configuration, control panel design, and communications systems.* Familiarity with Linux environments (Arch Linux experience highly regarded).* Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify, diagnose, and correct issues quickly.**Desirable Experience (Highly Regarded)*** **Programming skills in Python or other languages** (for automation, scripting, or data integration tasks).* **Process control knowledge in mineral processing and/or mining**, including familiarity with advanced control concepts and optimisation.* Exposure to historians, reporting tools, or data analytics platforms.* Experience with industrial networking and cybersecurity practices.This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge control and automation projects in the resources sector, while expanding your technical skills in both traditional control systems and modern digital tools.**Working at ALS**The ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.Our values are key to us, and shape how we work, how we treat each other and how we recognise excellence.At ALS, you’ll be supported to develop new skills and reach your full potential.
