Seeking an experienced Senior Alcohol & Other Drugs and Mental Health Clinician to work with the Community Acute Intervention Service Outreach Team (NURSE ONLY).

* Permanent Part Time - 64 hours per fortnight.
* Utilise your expertise and skills to assist consumers experiencing acute alcohol and other drug issues and acute mental health issues.

* No night shifts – AM 0830-1700 or PM 1330-2200 Monday-Sunday

MHDAS provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families.

Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. MHDAS is entering a new phase of co-design of our service system with people who access our services and our wider community. This will build on our nationally recognized unique cultural approach to the challenges of recovery-oriented service delivery to redesign our service system.

About the facility

The Community – Acute Intervention Service is a 7-day a week service with two shifts. The team is a tertiary level multidisciplinary mental health drug and alcohol team.

The team will:

* undertake assessments rated by Triage as Category B (CAT B) or Category C (CAT C) for 12-65 age range
* provide brief intervention to consumers requiring tertiary mental health treatment for up to a maximum of 28 days where consumers are in an acute phase of their illness, are not otherwise engaged with community mental health services and are aged 16-65
* provide ED post follow up phone calls to consumers who have left the ED after assessment and are not referred to other tertiary mental health services

About You

* Registered Psychiatric Nurse
* You have a demonstrated advanced level of clinical skills in the assessment and treatment of people with substance use disorders.
* Must have experience working in acute mental health and AOD assessment and treatment in the public health sector.
* Be able to demonstrate advanced level of clinical skills the assessment and treatment of people with acute mental health and substance use disorders in a community setting
* Current Drivers Licence
* Working knowledge of relevant legislation including the Severe Substance Dependence Treatment Act 2010, Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, Health Records Act 2001
* Sound working knowledge and a demonstrated capacity to implement: Recovery Principles, Integrated Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Treatment Principles, Harm Reduction Principles and Family Inclusive Practice Principles
* Be able to demonstrate advanced level of clinical skills the assessment and treatment of people with acute mental health and substance use disorders in a community setting

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated senior clinician to provide acute community assessment and treatment for people in the acute phase of their mental illness and/or alcohol and other drug (AOD) use. Additionally, you will demonstrate leadership in both the ongoing development of the acute intervention service and day-to-day operations of the team.

Duties include;

* Working with consumers and their caregiver
* Providing expert assessment and intervention
* Developing a plan of care
* Acting as a link between the community acute intervention service outreach team and alcohol and other drug services (public and private, hospital and community).
