We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who will focuse on developing robust solutions for data ingestion, transformation, and optimization while ensuring performance, governance, and long-term sustainability. You'll act as a technical lead, collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality data capabilities that empower analytics and business intelligence across the organization.

Your future role and responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of data pipelines, frameworks, and architecture that support complex transformation and modelling requirements.
Define, document, and maintain data processing logic, ensuring clarity across requirements, solutions, reconciliation steps, and ETL/ELT processes.
Translate business needs into practical, scalable data models and engineering solutions that can be reused across multiple systems and domains.
Partner with other engineers and cross‐functional teams to guide the creation of data solutions, ensuring consistency, scalability, and security.
Support project execution through regular progress updates, issue tracking, and risk management reporting.
Identify and recommend improvements to existing data platforms, leveraging emerging cloud features and capabilities.
Work closely with architecture and engineering teams to optimise performance, availability, and cost across Azure environments.
Maintain and refine data quality and governance frameworks to uphold integrity and compliance across all data products.
Foster strong communication channels with stakeholders, ensuring transparency, collaboration, and mutual understanding of project goals.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to data engineers, promoting best practices in design, development, and delivery.
Collaborate with project managers and senior stakeholders to prioritise workloads and align technical deliverables with strategic objectives.
Build trusted relationships across teams by proactively communicating updates, challenges, and improvement opportunities.
Experience required to be successful in this role:
Strong technical foundation with a solid understanding of database concepts, along with hands‐on experience using data development tools (ETL frameworks) and programming languages such as SQL and Python to design, build, and document data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
Demonstrated ability to analyse business operations in depth, translate requirements into actionable solutions, and design and implement tools that address specific business needs while continuously building on existing knowledge.
Proficiency with several of the following technologies and programming tools:
Azure Databricks (including SQL and Python)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to clearly explain technical information and data concepts to both technical and non‐technical audiences.
A creative problem‐solver with the confidence to design innovative solutions where standard approaches or precedents may not exist.
A proactive approach to learning and professional growth — keen to experiment with new ideas, share insights, and support the development of others within the team.
