About the Role
Technology underpins every service we deliver, from crisis accommodation to classrooms to community outreach. As our Senior Systems Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring our people have the secure, reliable and modern systems they need to support vulnerable children and young people.
The Senior Systems Engineer provides technical leadership to the IT team and leads the development of an optimised, reliable and secure IT environment. You will apply technical expertise, research and analysis to design, implement and maintain high‐quality IT systems that enable our staff to deliver proficient, safe and effective services.
You'll manage core infrastructure, strengthen cyber security, and act as the escalation point for complex technical issues. Your work will directly support frontline teams, enabling them to focus on what matters most, helping children and young people build positive futures.
This role is hands‐on, collaborative and central to the smooth operation of the organisation. You'll work closely with the Technology Senior Manager and contribute to planning, risk management and continuous improvement across the technology environment.
This position is based at our Head Office in Alexandria, with occasional travel to other YOTS sites.
What you'll do
* Select, plan and implement hardware, software platforms and network infrastructure
* Maintain currency of software, systems and security controls
* Participate in cyber security monitoring and incident response
* Lead cyber security and technology risk management activities
* Research emerging technologies and advise on opportunities for improvement
* Resolve IT Service Desk tickets in an effective and timely manner
* Perform scheduled Disaster Recovery failover testing
* Coordinate with IT suppliers and partners
* Engage with stakeholders and communicate system changes across the business
* Produce and maintain technical documentation
* Support and develop the technical skill sets of IT team members
* Create reports as required
* Act as the point of escalation for IT incidents
* Contribute to the development of the IT budget
* Act for the Technology Senior Manager during periods of leave
* Perform other duties appropriate to the classification as required
What you'll bring
* Diploma or tertiary qualification in IT, Network Engineering or equivalent experience
* Experience managing Entra ID, Intune, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Defender, SharePoint and Windows OS
* Experience managing network infrastructure
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non‐technical staff
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively
* High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
* Professionalism, integrity and a commitment to confidentiality
* Experience with mobile device management
* Experience supporting WordPress
* Experience in Copilot Agent development
* Experience managing Google Workspace
* Experience developing Power Automate workflows
* Knowledge of 3CX telephony
* Knowledge of MS Dynamics and Fabric
* Certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, MCP, Cisco Meraki CMSS or 3CX
