Job Description
As Payroll Officer, you will efficiently and accurately process payroll on a weekly or fortnightly basis for allocated business units, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, company policies, and industry standards. This role focuses on maintaining accurate employee records, resolving payroll‐related queries, and supporting the organisation's commitment to operational excellence through precise and timely payroll execution.
Key responsibilities include:
* Process payroll for employees in compliance with relevant Awards, individual employment contracts, and legislative requirements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Administer employee and employer deductions, contributions, and benefits, including company and industry superannuation.
* Maintain and update employee records and payroll components consistently and accurately, following established procedures.
* Respond to payroll‐related queries and requests, providing clear and professional communication to resolve issues efficiently.
* Collaborate with the Payroll Lead to address escalations and support service delivery through tools such as the Zendesk payroll portal.
* Assist with preparing payroll‐related data for forecasting, analytics, and reporting to meet business requirements.
* Build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders by supporting accurate and responsive payroll processes.
* Contribute to key projects and process improvement initiatives under the direction of the Payroll Lead or Group Payroll Manager.
* Maintain accountability for task completion, ensuring adherence to deadlines and organisational standards.
* Support the Payroll Lead in monitoring payroll accuracy and addressing discrepancies to maintain compliance and integrity.
Qualifications
* 2+ years' experience in payroll processing within a high‐volume or multi‐site environment.
* Sound understanding of Modern Awards and payroll legislation, with the ability to interpret employment conditions accurately.
* Proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP Payforce is desirable, Time2Work, or similar platforms.
* Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting capabilities.
* Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining employee records and processing payroll transactions.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to address payroll‐related queries professionally and clearly.
