Medical Officer Position in Rural Area
The job involves working at a hospital in a rural area with a diverse and growing population. The healthcare service provides a range of primary care, acute, and specialist services.
We are looking for a medical officer to join our team in tropical North Queensland. Mareeba Hospital is a 40-bed Level 3 facility servicing the Mareeba District with a large Indigenous population. The caseload includes emergency presentations with trauma and acute illnesses, care of inpatients including paediatrics and a general practice outpatient clinic.
Mareeba is a one-hour drive from Cairns and is located on the Atherton Tablelands with a population of approximately 10,500 people. The town has a multicultural heritage, with beautiful fresh produce, scenic mountain bike riding, bird watching, various wineries, and several coffee plantations.
Key Responsibilities
As a medical officer, you will contribute as a dynamic member of our team, providing high-quality clinical care to hospital in-patients and patients at rural clinics. You will assist in developing safe medical practice and optimizing clinical skills for medical and nursing staff.
You will be responsible for providing a high standard of care for patients and their families, contributing to improving the health of the local population. Qualifications and Skills Required
The successful candidate will have advanced skills in Obstetrics, Anaesthetics, or Emergency. They will also have evidence of Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) required for employment in accordance with legislation/government policy and Directives.
