Role Description An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Australian Southern Bluefin Tuna operations. We are seeking a qualified and driven Skipper to lead one of our rod-and-reel vessels.
The Skipper is responsible for the safe, efficient, and commercially effective operation of a 14m rod & reel tuna vessel targeting Southern Bluefin Tuna (SBT) in southern Tasmanian and east coast fishing grounds.
This is a performance-driven role in a premium fishery, suited to a disciplined operator who values quality, leadership, and results.

Work Structure & Schedule • Rare opportunity to operate in a 12-month season fishery • Standard trip: 2–4 days offshore + 1 day pre/post-trip servicing • Approximately 1 trip per week (potential for 2-trip cycle subject to weather and fish availability) • Flexibility required due to weather windows and fish movement
Required Skills & Experience • Proven rod-and-reel or trolling experience in pelagic or tuna fisheries • Demonstrated experience operating vessels of similar size offshore • Strong focus on catch handling and export-grade quality control • Confident navigational judgement in variable sea conditions • Effective leadership and safety-first mindset • Practical marine engineering knowledge • Disciplined record keeping and vessel reporting
Licences & Certifications (must have) • Austrlaian Master 4, <24m qualification • Marine Engine Driver, Grade 2 • Current Marine First Aid • Valid Medical Certificate
Compensation Structure • Catch-share incentive scheme aligned to productivity and catch quality performance • Weekly earning potential: AUD $2,000–$3,000 (net) • Performance-based upside within a premium fishery
