Data and AI Engineer

(Agentic AI, Fabric & Manufacturing Integrations) 📍 Berkeley Vale, NSW | Hybrid

At TrendPac, we’re a fast‑growing FMCG manufacturer with a strong focus on operational excellence, automation and data‑driven decision making. As we continue to invest heavily in modern data platforms and applied AI, we’re looking for a Data and AI Engineer to help design, build and scale enterprise‑grade data and AI solutions that deliver real, measurable value across the business.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys working close to the business, translating complex operational problems into robust data products and AI‑enabled solutions.

About the role

As our Data and AI Engineer, you will work closely with senior leaders and operational teams across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance and IT. You’ll play a key role in shaping and executing TrendPac’s Data and AI strategy, building modern data platforms and applied AI solutions that support smarter decision‑making, automation and performance uplift across our manufacturing environment.

You’ll bring strong expertise across Microsoft Fabric, Azure and modern AI/agentic architectures, with the opportunity to work on real‑world manufacturing integrations including MES and SCADA systems.

Key responsibilities
* Assist in defining and executing TrendPac’s Data and AI vision, strategy and roadmap
* Design, build and optimise end‑to‑end data products and AI solutions aligned to business needs
* Architect and develop Microsoft Fabric solutions including lakehouse design, medallion architecture, semantic models and governed data layers
* Build and maintain ETL / ELT pipelines, orchestration workflows and dimensional models to support analytics and AI use cases
* Design and implement enterprise‑grade RAG solutions using Azure OpenAI and modern LLM frameworks
* Develop agentic AI workflows and MCP‑style integrations to enable reliable, auditable AI automation
* Build AI‑enabled workflows using Copilot Studio, Power Apps, Power Automate and AI Builder, including OCR‑based extraction
* Deliver application components where required using Python (FastAPI), React (TypeScript) and PostgreSQL
* Integrate with manufacturing systems such as MES and SCADA, enabling operational KPIs and OEE‑style metrics
* Partner with stakeholders to define clear data contracts, metrics and semantic definitions
* Ensure solutions are secure, scalable and compliant with governance and security standards
* Support solution quality through testing, documentation, troubleshooting and continuous improvement
* Act as a subject matter expert, uplifting data and AI capability across the organisation
About you

You’re a technically strong engineer who enjoys solving practical business problems. You’re comfortable working end‑to‑end — from architecture and development through to deployment and stakeholder engagement — and you thrive in environments where your work has visible impact.

You will bring:

* Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric and modern data engineering patterns
* Hands‑on experience with Azure OpenAI, agentic LLM architectures and RAG implementations
* Advanced skills in Python and SQL, with solid Azure cloud experience
* Experience designing and delivering ETL / ELT pipelines and analytical data models
* Exposure to manufacturing or FMCG environments (highly regarded, not essential)
* Experience integrating data from operational systems such as MES, SCADA or ERP (well regarded)
* Experience delivering AI‑enabled business workflows and automation
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Essential criteria
* Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate or Fabric Data Engineer Associate certification
* Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline
Why join TrendPac?
* Work on real, applied AI and data solutions in a live manufacturing environment
* Be part of a business that genuinely invests in modern platforms, automation and capability uplift
* High visibility role with exposure to senior leaders and operational teams
* Flexible working arrangements and a supportive, down‑to‑earth culture
* Opportunity to shape how AI and data are embedded across the organisation
