About the Department

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) Division delivers critical enabling services and ICT solutions across the Department and its portfolio and is seeking skilled Automation Testers to support the delivery of multiple digital and ICT initiatives.
Role Overview
The Automation Tester will support the delivery of ICT projects across the CIO Division by planning, executing and managing software testing activities. The role includes both automated and manual testing of web‐based applications, close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and active engagement with business stakeholders to ensure high‐quality, accessible digital solutions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain testing strategies, test plans and test cases using Azure DevOps
* Design, write, review and execute automated and manual test cases for web‐based applications
* Analyse requirements, specifications and user stories to generate effective test coverage
* Prioritise testing activities based on delivery schedules, risks and business impact
* Raise, track and manage defects and issues using departmental tools, including Azure DevOps
* Provide advice on testing approaches and support the implementation of automation testing practices
* Test digital solutions for compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
* Lead and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including planning, execution and stakeholder engagement
* Contribute as an active member of agile and hybrid delivery teams
* Prepare test reports, risk assessments and status updates for technical and non‐technical stakeholders
* Undertake other duties as required to support project delivery
Requirements
Essential Criteria
* Demonstrated experience in automation testing with strong software testing fundamentals
* Proven ability to develop and manage complex test artefacts, including test plans, test cases and test strategies
* Experience working collaboratively within cross‐functional teams including Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects and Developers
* Ability to operate effectively in fast‐paced, agile environments, including with geographically dispersed teams
* Strong understanding or practical experience testing for WCAG accessibility compliance
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with non‐technical stakeholders
Desirable Criteria
* Experience testing custom applications, particularly within the Azure and Microsoft technology ecosystem
* Experience managing test plans, test cases and defect tracking in Azure DevOps
* Experience planning, guiding and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities
